Alan, how old is your timing belt? This happened to
me from a skipped belt. I thought it was fuel related
and a bunch of shops including dealers couldn't find
anything wrong, until it snapped for good. This was
in college when I didn't have the means to work on my
own cars. What happens is a deadly combo, carbon
builds up on the pistons and valves from the poor
running, you drive around at 5k rpms because that's
the only way the car runs, then snap, there goes all
your valves because of the high rpms and carbon
buildup.

Park it and check out that belt before you ruin your
motor and have to put an MC in there:)
