Check the female terminals inside the connectors on the car. These tend to
corrode - no contact with the pad side pins, brake light comes on.

Subject: Brake Wear Indicator

Just in time for state inspection (sticker expires end of this month),
and right before I'm off for points South for a month (leaving Monday),
the wife's 1990 200TQA has the brake wear indicator lite up on the
warning screen, AND the red "BRAKE" light is constantly on too.

I suspect the red brake light may be the emergency brake cable switch,
everything works fine in the braking system.

Inspected today, plenty of meat on the brake pads, shorted the sensors at
the pads....yellow warning indicator did not go out on the cluster. I
traced the wear indicator wires as far as I could, but they go into a
larger harness almost as soon as they go into the engine compartment.

Is there a common place where the wear indicators tend to break? Is
there something else that could be triggering the brake pad wear
indicator?
