FWIW, as I don't know if this applies to the C5 body A6s, on the '92-'97
100/A6/S4/S6 there is a red connector under the ECU that, when unplugged,
will disable the speed limiter.  Here is a link describing the
location/procedure on those cars.  Maybe there is something equally simple
for the C5 body A6.
