Something must be wrong. Even so it is still an insignificant effort.
The driver is supposed to be the brain in the control loop.

You are supposed to put the tranny in neutral and release the clutch at
stoplights.

Try to sell an Rx-7 with a manual tranny. Certain cars the above may
be true but not universally
Europe 80% manual
US 80% automatic
The conditions aren't that different and I don't understand the
preference.
Auto costs an extra $1000 and when it need service in five years
instead of a couple hundred for a new clutch it is a $2000 open ended
contract with the local auto tranny crook.
