George,
Car has about 75k miles on it. I bought it used back in September from a dealer. This is what I've done to it since I got it:
- oil change/mann oil filter/mann air filter
- front cam and intermediate seals replaced
- timing belt replaced
- new tensioner and roller installed
- a/c pulley replaced
- ribbed belt and alternator belt replaced
- water pump and gasket replaced
- bosch plugs installed
I'm not upset at what the dealer brought to my attention. I'm shocked at how much the labor amounts to. The seals were no more than $8 each and brake pads about $76. Your'e talking no more than $100 in parts at most and the rest in labor. For over $2500 in labor I'll jack up the car and get my hands dirty myself.
I don't blame the dealer either. Charge what the market can bear is fine with me and if people are willing to pay than places like this will continue to thrive. Just feel sorry for people who may not be able to asses for themselves whether what the dealer says is true or not.

I wonder what condition your car is in to make him think you needed a
total restoration? Is it due in for a major tune up or something?
Cheers
George
