V8 in 90Q or 80Q

You could always find a wrecked A8 and pull the V8 to put in a '93 to
'97 100/A6 (including '98 A6 Avant). Due to federal regs, you would need
a same year or newer engine to go in the car. So I guess you could use
an "ur-V8" engine in an older 100 series.
