That is the primary reason I bought the 3.0 instead of the 1.8t A4. There
is enough torque that I can leave it in 2nd gear from a creep up through
about 40mph and back down as much as needed without ever hitting the
clutch. I spend a large percentage of my drive time in heavy traffic, but
love a manual transmission.
Now, the real solution is probably the new generation of automated manual
transmissions, also called sequential or direct-shift (this is not
TipTronic, that is an automatic that can be manually shifted). Examples are
BMW's SMG, Audi's & VW's DSG, Ferrari, etc.
No slushboxes in my driveline please!
