A couple turns of thin stainless wire with a twist work well as a low
profile clamp. If there is a clearance problem when retracted, put the
twist after the end of the boot. Also, I'm not sure if the boot is the
only diaphragm in those solenoids. Someone who has had one apart could
answer better. HTH.
