[urq] 5ktq driveline into UrQ?[wasRe: Urq's and the 016transmission]

Which only remains the question of the rear diff. from the 5ktq will work or
is a non-issue.

Here is my plan - though many months in advance.

I have an 2 MC blocks and MC-2 crank and pistons - to build up one MC-2
bottom end. A head from MC-1 will be worked over and looking at installing
larger valves - forget whether it is exhaust or intake, but have in my notes
somwhere. Elgin 264i/270e cam ( a little hotter than my last one) to be
installed in the completely rebuilt head. I have a 2-piece 200/5000
manifold. T03/K26 turbo and other goodies off the 87 5ktq avant that was
wrecked, bypass valve, single pass IC.

So since that driveline was in great condition, I figure I can swap all this
over as well.

This will likely be a project down the road, but never to early to plan.

Ben

Ah the speedo BTDT, I even bought a large tap to install
the mechanical one in to the electronic hole. But you
don't need the hole is already tapped. So for the 5ktq
electronic sender simply remove and install the mechanical
gear from the ur-q...

Good to know. I would be doing this in concert with MC conversion, and have
200 dual mass flywheel with pins in correct configuration -- ahh just as you
specify with QLCC chipped MAC-11 etc.

I would suppose that I'd be installing the speedometer and wiring from 5ktq
as well, or do I just substitute the cable sender for the electromagnetic
one? Is the speedo one of those gotchas?

Ben,
Drops in no problems and gives better gearing. Drive
shafts bolt right up to 5ktq tranny output flanges.
Double check the rpm and ignition timing sender slots
but I don't think there are any issues. 5ktq flywheel
pin is 2 degrees different than the ur-q pin which is
at 60 degrees BTDC. So if you are keeping the MAC02 use
the ur-q flywheel, else use MAC11 and '89 200q lightened
flywheel - this is a nice upgrade and improves throttle
response.

cheers, Mike

Good info! On that note -

I am contemplating transplanting driveline from '87 5000 turbo quattro into
'83 UrQuattro. Can this be done - using UrQ shafts, or are the trans. too
different. Any merits toward doing this?
