The car(90 100q) will not act up anymore.
I am ready to shotgun the problem. I need some theory help.
>From what I can determine the problem can be either fuel or ignition
related.
I am leaning toward the fuel system as being the problem.
The ignition parts have been replaced recently. Also, a similar problem
occurred two years ago with the old ignition parts. Wife left for work on
cold winter day. The car stalled out 2 blocks away. Would not start, cranked
ok. Next morning, started right up. The problem never re-ocurred until now.
I think the Coolant Temp sensor is the problem. An intermittant heat/cold
related condition. This sensor has two sections to it.
The first section feeds coolant information to the fuel injection control.
This determines fuel enrichment and when to fire off the cold start valve.
The second section of this sensor feeds information to the ignition control.
I am not sure what function the sensor has. RPM and ignition advance control
at various temperatures?
I have ordered the temperature control sensor and will be putting it in
today.
I will also take apart the distributor cap and see if there is any arcing or
other visible problems. If I cannot find anything, I will measure the
resistance and swap the coil/cap wire and the cap and rotor with the parts
from the 88 5kq.
