Installing Bilsteins on Type-44

I've finally got all the pieces that were missing from my bilsteins, so now I'd like to actually mount the springs and shocks onto the strut housing. I know you're supposed to throw out the bump stops since the bilsteins have internal ones and the shaft is too wide anyway. Is there anything else that should be taken out of the picture? Also a few items are pretty nasty looking such as the cap for the dust boot and the plastic protective ring (not the bearing) on the upper spring seat. Should I replace these w/ new parts or are they worthless? thanks for the advice.
