optimas in later type 44's- plenty of clearance?!

So I was studying the underside of the back seat from the 200q20v.
If you look at it- the frame goes into the seat several inches from
the rim. An optima comes up only slightly above the edge of the body
where the frame rests.
It would seem damn near impossible for the frame to touch either
terminal, even with a fat bastard sitting there; that part of the
seat isn't designed to bend.
I still want to cover the + terminal, but I'm wondering what people
have done, aside from mounting it on its side(which doesn't appear to
be an option at the moment due to cable length.) I'm leaning towards
a hacked-up tupperware cap w/tie-wrap to keep in place, using
something like a grease pencil to make sure there's no contact...
I can't remember exactly, but it seems to me like the 200q20v seat
has a much sturdier frame from the pre-89 models. Yes/no?
