A4 Oil Pump Problems?

All,

I tried to search the archives to see if this thread had already been
discussed, but got back nothing (maybe I searched incorrectly?).  A friend
of mine forwarded me the below link along with a story of a friend of a
friend who had this trouble.  Can anyone confirm?  This article is old, so
obviously I'm way behind the times....
