Are the seat rails for the 4000/CGT the same as the 80? if so, you need to make the sets NARROWER. When the Trophy Recaro seats that came in the Jetta GLi and Golf GTi were transplanted into a friends 4000q, he had to heat the frame witha torch and push then in. Not sure how much, he saids it was a trial & error process. he's push them in a little, test fir, press some more. They are wonderful, the most comfortable seats I've ever had. http://members.cox.net/duandcc_forums/Seats1.jpg

Subject: Jetta GLI Recaros in a 80q ??

I have never been able to get really comfortable in my 80q. It had the
standard non-power black cloth interior when I purchased it and I replaced it
with a leather sport interior (also non-power), yet I am still not very happy --
I think the seats in my Coupe GT may have spoiled me.

I would like to try to put a set of Recaro seats from a Jetta GLI in the car.
I understand that the Jetta seats are narrower as far as the rear track goes
and that they would have to be "widened" to fit the grooves in my 80q.

Does anyone know what the difference in the width of the rear track is between
the Jetta and an 80q and also what the best method would be to widen the rear
track of the Jetta seats would be.

Thank you.
