**** Get a couple of 1% resistors at radio shack. 10 ohm, 100 ohm, 1 ohm,
0.5 ohm.
Use these resistors as "calibration" standards.
You can do something similar with the voltage scale. A new AA, AAA, C, D
battery will measure 1.56 volts.
2 in series is 3.12 volts . .. etc etc etc
Take the DMM to Sears. Measure the voltage of new batteries on the shelf.
Fully charged batteries will read 12.7 volts.
That will give you another calibration mark.
And, while you are in Sears, measure the resistance of the Alt/battery
replacement cables that they have in stock. That will give you a reference
for what you should be reading on your car.
