Coupe quattro climate control weirdness (update)

Hi Guys,
Thank you for all of the responses. I got under the dashboard of my coupe last night and looked at the position of temperature control flap (as show in Bentley). The temperature control servo appears to hang up every now and then. I'm guessing that as one lister suggested, the servo is probably sticking due to a worn feedback strip. It doesn't look like it's going to be any fun to change so instead of attempting to fix the old servo, I've ordered a new one from the dealer.
Thanks, Zain Horning

Zain,
It sure sounds like the feedback strip in the temperature control servo
is shot. You might be able to disassemble the servo and adjust the
potentiometer to run on a non-worn spot of the resistance track, or you
could just replace it. Alternately, there was a mod for this type of
problems on the earlier automatic climate control systems in the 5k
series cars that involved soldering a 680k resistor from the wiper of
the feedback strip to one side or the other. The same mod might work
here. Check www.sjmautotechnik.com. there's probably some climate
control info there.
