UrS4 tire fitment

Hey Listers,
       I want to finally go one size up on my 93' UrS4. What is the widest 
tire fitment I can fit. I have BBS RX's with 225/45/17's 35mm offset 17x8's. 
that will need replacement. I wanted to know if anyone has tried fitting 
235/40';s or 245/40'/17's?? I want to fit them soon.
