Reminds me of a similar "easy" repair.
Last year, after replacing the timing belt on my CIS urQ (BIG job for an
amateur like me), car started on the first attempt. Yessss!. But when hot,
idle was can of lumpy, and the car would eventually die. Many hours later,
after a long search, my conclusion was: I goofed on the timing and I will
have to dismantle it all over just to replace the timing belt on the correct
notch.
Then, just when I was beginning to unbolt the lower rad hose to empty the
coolant, there is was, lying under the car: the oil dipstick... Its absence
was creating a huge air leak...
