1. It ain't an interference engine.
2. The fast warm-up ain't necessarily too fast.
3. The gauge and fan relay are run by separate sensors.
4. Hydraulics. The dipstick needs to be kept topped up. Even half a quart
low will induce ticking. Harmless. OTOH, the vacuum pump that supplements
the manifold vacuum to the brake booster is a common source of ticking and
removal of the pushrod will silence it forever. It is an artifact of the Urq
turbo setup and is not needed on the 4kq.
5. They are the most bulletproof car I know of. I could go on and on, and
will if anyone is interested. I've owned my 87 since new and have nearly
300K miles. Original clutch, engine, etc. Same compression as new.
Maintenance yes, overhauls no. I know many others with same or even much
more miles. The ultimate daily driver as well as cross-country highway
killer.
