Dryness test - with everything cold, get them to spray and watch for a darkening tip.

Another key sign is a sudden drop in oil level on the first long journey for a while.  The
scenario is that the engine is burning oil to perhaps a limited degree - short journeys cause
repeated pressurisation of the system and a little leakdown each time - the fuel runs down the
bores and into the sump.  The first time the oil gets really hot, the fuel fractions evaporate
and the oil level seems to drop remarkably.
