help! typ44: exhaust smell when heater is on

Minor correction.  You are probably smelling exhaust fumes but not carbon 
monoxide.  CO is odorless.  It may be present in the exhaust but you are 
not smelling it.  Instead you are smelling other components of the exhaust 
fumes.
