I had a KH head that had the brass fitting, too.  What is the purpose of air
shrouding and what are the effects?  Would it make sense to plumb in that
line on a WX engine? If so, where does it come from?  Just curious....

I'll see if I can take a picture of this, but it is a vacuum port drilled thru the entire length of the manifold(NG) or Head(others) - would be difficult to do this.  

It basically draws a vacuum around the body of the injector and I guess it serves two purposes:
1) to recapture fuel that weeps behind the injector tip - I observed this hapening even on new injectors.

2) to somehow improve the injector pattern.
