Try some GM Top End cleaner.  Available at most GM dealers (illegal in
California I think.)  Directions are on the can.  They have a liquid and
an aerosol version.  On the V8Q I pulled the rear vacuum line and fed 3/4
of it in that way,  and poured the rest directly in while revving the
engine.  Works very well, but throws out a plume of smoke that'll drop
mosquitos for miles around. ;-)

On the water cleaning, just a word of caution, things can get pretty HOT.
 Did the water cleaning to a Jeep pickup, headers and exhaust got cherry
red, paint in bed started to smoke a little.......but it cleaned
everything out, the thing wouldn't even idle before the water treatment.
