Changed 2 knock sensors

Hey Cat, I would check the ECU for error codes. Is that why you replaced the knock sensors? You will get errors for the rpm and timing sensor, so I wouldn't replace those expensive parts unless you're sure there's something wrong. It's unlikely that they are really. BTW, did you take care to tighten the knock sensors to the right torque? They can break if you tighten too much.

I know you've heard to check for vac leaks, but seriously check all the major hoses at least by taking them out and inspecting em, esp. around hose clamps, even the big one over the air flow meter. That could easily cause the problems you're having. Then you should throw maintenance items at it like fuel filter, plugs, cap, rotor... whatever hasn't been changed recently. Try thinking of anything that was fixed or repaired and then it started giving you this trouble; maybe something just needs adjustment. Also look at the plugs anyway. They'll tell you if the mixture is off. If not, then it may be more of an ignition/engine control problem. Hope this gives you guys some more ideas...

Hi

I changed both knock sensors, got used ones, 2 for $130.

The yellow light on the dash has gone out
and the car starts better and drives much better at
extremely slow speeds, but

as soon as I went to give it gas it doesn't respond well
and on the highway it misfires.

I assume that what is left to replace is the hall sensor (hall sender) ?

My husband is at a point where he is like a deer frozen in the headlights of
a car. He doesn't have the proper tools to diagnose it and I have spent too
many months of wasted gas.

I am going to start throwing parts at it?

Cheers, Cat

P.S. Anyone have a *tool for changing the timing belt* laying around that you want to get rid of for something?
