This is already happening.  The transmission on the latest A8 
has its front driveshaft outputs ahead of the gearbox section,
which allows the front wheels to be moved further to the front,
reducing overhang, increasing wheelbase and therefore moving the
weight distribution rearward.  I think the rest of the Audi line
will probably see a similar change.
