Rear Door window switches - oops it's a 4000 - please help Kneale because I can't

Sorry, Kneale. I didn't realize you were talking about a 4000. Your post
never mentioned the model (or I missed that), and I was just trying to be
helpful. Of course you would have swapped switches to try to resolve the
problem if that was possible.

I had an '86 4000 once but never experienced this problem. But Huw seems to
know a lot about the 4000. He might be of help. Hopefully he'll respond to
your post.

And thanks for pointing out to me there are a lot of differences in the 4000
vs the 5000. I never would have guessed ;-)

Anyone out there have the info that Kneale is looking for? Here are details
of his problem:
I got the classic window down, won't go back up syndrome.

Switch (driver rear door) has Yellow, Red/Black, Yellow/Green,
Blue/Black and Brown wires soldered to the back of it.

With the key on, I've got 12 volts on the Yellow, Red/Black and
Yellow/Green wires. Does the switch make a circuit through the motor to
ground? Can I just put a ground on one of the three with power already to
make the window go up? I tried taking the rocker off the switch and
soaking the innards with contact cleaner, but that didn't help.

Do I need to do something with the switch in the console instead?

Once again, Kneale - Best of Luck. Hope the rain doesn't come pouring in
before the problem is sorted out.
