I'm sure it could be welded and redrilled but from a shop perspective it would take too much time and would represent a increased risk of failure. At $75/hr, sometimes it is cheaper to buy a part from the dealer. Of course you would not have the cool yellow pedal!
I don't think you could drill out the hole larger and fit a larger diameter pin becuase the clevis on the push rod may not be thick enough.
