Yeah, a quick look around under the hood with a flashlight yielded no 
easy answers.  But it was dark out, if you don't get a better answer by 
tomorrow afternoon I'll go look again in the light.

But, I have had my coupe and my 90 in lots of pieces and I have never 
seen a part like that one yet.  But my memory isn't what it used to 
be... it sure *looks* like a VAG mounting bracket for *something*!
