Actually, Lee- the laminated side glass in Volvos is an option
package item. Most of the models offer it in a package, but it is
only standard on the S80 T6.

Most, perhaps all, the larger Volvos now have this glass.

2 or 3 years ago I saw a dealer training video on this...it took a guy
with some dedication, elbow grease and a good sized hammer almost a
minute to break a hole in the side window glass.

Safe from both the perspective of side impacts and bad people intrusion.

I'm surprised other manufacturers aren't using this yet...
