Whip out the checkbook.

There is an online dealer near me (Pittsburgh) that sells lemon law /
goodwill buyback Audis all the time on eBay. I inquired about a '02 A4 3.0
quattro they had on auction a couple years back, and wanted to know more
details about why the car was a buyback. This one had an engine issue that
led to an incurable oil leak. Audi bought the car back and replaced the
entire engine. The seller had all kinds of documentation from Audi about the
repair, costs, etc. Audi had Audi Assured the car as well, so it basically
had a 6 yr / 100k warranty. The "buy it now" price was about $10k under the
sticker price (mid-high $20s, was in late '02), and the car had under 8k
miles on it. I guess it all depends on the reason the car was lemon lawed,
how it was rectified and of course price.
