irregular performace on 86 4KQ

With the change in seasons i have noticed that temperature and humidity and other facors seem to affect the performance of my 4KQ a LOT.  I know that some should be expected, but this seems to be more then i have noticed in any other vehicle i have owned. The car runs fine but the power goes way down.  I havnt found a pattern to it though.  From what i know there is a etmp sensor for the coolent that can play games with power but the gauge on the console reads fine (now) what else could it be?
