Electrical Gremlins - short IN fusebox?

On the cowl mounted fuseboxes it's rather common.  I'm on fusebox #3 or
#4 on the '84 5KS.  Our sometimes resident Audi Guru Phil Payne had a
good post on the "Stephen Problem", probably still in the archives
somewhere.  

My car was blowing #12 fuse too, if I recall correctly, I resolved the
problem by cutting and direct soldering some wiring that went through a
round connector somewhere under the drivers side kick panel.
