Type 44q fuel tank replacement

Anyone know how far I have to lower the differential in order to get out
the leaking fuel tank?

Bentley advises locking the rear diff in order to take out the halfshafts.
Is there a manual locking procedure?  

And, when I replace the fuel pump, can I substitute aluminum crush washers
for the copper ones on the banjo bolt that plugs the fuel line into the
pump output?
