Spark Plug Wires?

What were they basing their diagnosis on?  That is an old car, and could 
have many minor issues that are messing up its driveability.

I doubt it, but you can easily get a new set for about $50, $70 with a 
new loom, anywhere that sells car parts, or at least at places that 
specialize in imports.  Or via mail from a few well recommended places 
on the vendor list...
