Replacing window in 01' TT convertible

Hey guys,

A friend got his rear window smashed in his 2001 TT Convertible.  The dealer
noted that he could buy the top and window as one package only.  Has anyone
had to replace a rear window as this sounds kind of fishy...or yet another
excuse to charge thousands of dollars.
