No, the turbo motor takes over the timing and simply has to be set at 
rest to zero degrees.

On the 2.3 the idle timing should be set to about 12 deg BTDC (factory 
timing) and can be experimented with (advancing up to 18 BTDC) in 
attempts to get a bit more power.

The best way to get close is to align the body mark with the rotor and 
then turn the housing a bit (CCW?) to advance from there.  Assemble and 
have at it with a timing light.

Again, the dist body to head relationship is irrelevant, it is the body 
to rotor "timing" that matters.  It is the engagement of the drive teeth 
on the dist shaft with the camshaft that determines where the body will 
end up relative to the head.

Your Hall code might actually mean something is wrong, too.
