... I don't usually go for cross-posting, but since this was a comment that
came from the main list ...

vehicles in my fleet are quattros ... and I'm not one of those folks who
drives up to the snow on a regular basis.  To my mind, AWD adds to active
safety and provides a definite improvement in overall vehicle capabilities
even in rainy situations.  I suppose RWD would be less of an issue than FWD
in that regard ... but Audi doesn't do RWD.  

Since we are talking about a vehicle to be used to support a traveling
salesman I would say that a car with AWD could have some tangible advantages
over a FWD vehicle.  Based on the other factors, I did recommend the 100
Avant, but if the choice was between a 100 and a 100Q of similar vintage I
would recommend the latter ...
