Kent,
I've been following this thread now and nobody has
mentioned anything about what car will look the best
to clients. When I point out Audis to my
friends/family or anyone who will listen, the newer C4
and B4 Audis get alot more positive comments than the
older Audis. I feel "average Joe" in America finds the
newer cars (C4) to be a classier/more luxurious
automobile. This would lead your client to believe
that you, A: Have taste and B: Are successful. Which
will lead that person to trust your taste in boots,
helmuts etc., and trust that you know what you are
talking about (how could you drive that nice car
without happy customers).
There will be your occasional die hard Audi fan that
you run into who will ask about your Audi and comment
that they like 5ks and 200s, but it's pretty rare to
find people like that, unless your at an Audifans
event! Then you can tell them about the 200 you have
at home!
I realize having a reliable car is important to you,
but you also have to imagine what the customer is
going to think. If you'd rather not make a statement
with your car, go the Toyota, Ford route. If you want
a reliable Audi that average people will mistake as
much newer car, go for the C4! People are always
shocked when I tell them my 90q is an '88, my dad's A6
is a '95 and my friends Cabriolet is a '94. They don't
seem shocked to find out my 4kq is an '85!
Hope this helps!
