As Brett said, keep it working the way it was intended.

4-cyl or 5-cyl car?  If 4-cyl, you have the dual fan setup, which
should be plenty good, and there is really no upgrade.  The 5-cyl car's
radiator fan motors won't fit.  The secondary fan is belt-driven fropm
the primary one, so check the belt's condition.

Again, 4-cyl or 5-cyl?  4-cyl cars already have an oil cooler -- it's
the oil-to-water exchanger sandwich on which the oil filter is mounted.

Probably R12 charge getting low, causing the low pressure switch to
cut out the compressor.  Go to an AC shop who would have the proper
equipment to handle that.
