Yes, if you lock the center diff, you can drive it in front wheel drive.

I am wondering if it is possible to drive a 4kq without the prop-shaft
installed? The owners manual talks about dyno testing without the shaft
installed
and the center diff locked (somewhere around page 50). I may have to have
the
shaft balanced and since this is currently my only running car.....
