Audi Passat dashboard question :)

Questions about Passat quattros are allowed here, right?  :)

I finally noticed that the new Passat is available as a wagon with
quattro _and_ a stick shift!!!  It's everything I ever wanted in a car
(except for diesel or better yet, hybrid), except for that idiotic
colour scheme on the dash lights.  Yeah, it's gorgeous, but do they
not know that dashboards should be uniform red?  Come on, people!
Every photographer or astronomer knows that red is unobtrusive and
barely interferes with night vision, and blue does a world of harm.

Any idea how the dash is lit?  Would it be easy to change the blue to
red?  I'm assuming not, but I figure someone here ought to know.

By the way, I forgot to post to the list, but thanks to y'all, Hyatt
now has more than a light-second behind her.
