88 80q Distributer repaired - Need help with re-installation

I know we've been through this before but I'm seriously not getting it. Now that my original marks are way off can some one step me through replacing this distributor correctly?

Since you can put the distrubutor in - in any direction - and the outer housing rotates - Where does it line up. Is there a mark on the head that the "keyed" part of the shaft is supposed to line up to that I'm missing?

I guess I'm going to need kindergarten instructions - I just don't get it.
