Drive shaft auto balancer

That sounds a lot like the wheel balancers we used in the 60's for Jeep 
wheels. It consisted of a tube approximately 1 inch in diameter, that 
was partially full of lead shot and oil, and was formed in about a 12 
to 14 inch diameter circle. There was a thin plate in the center 
drilled for the wheel bolt pattern. The shot filled tube was at the 
outer rim of the plate. It worked quite well.
