recommended wheel/tyre size for 1990 90q

Looking at 16's and 17's
Most common offsets are between 35-40 which would make the wheels stick out
further than stock.
So question is, can I still get 205-215 rubber on this greater offse?
Any btdts email me off list, and I can make a list up.
