Well, not really, any ECU will advance the timing when
it senses cooler intake air. It's kinda like driving
your turbo car on a cool, humid day, vs a hot ass dry
day. I used to love it when winter came because my
car was faster. Now it's like that all the time.
Being able to advance even more is an advantage, but
not necessary as long as your temp sensor can read the
cool air. It's kinda like how a dry nitrous system
get's it's extra fuel.
One great application would be an ecu that hasn't had
timing modified for increased boost. With WI, you
could probably increase the boost without getting into
knock, then you wouln't be in the dangerouse situation
of having your knock sensor control your timing for you.
