urS4 clutch pressure

As scary as it is to do on this list, I am asking for educated opinions...

I'm looking at a '92 S4 for purchase.  The car has 140kmi., is bone stock,
and has had extensive maintenance.  It looks great (in pictures) and the
owner has convinced me he's a stand up guy, the price is right, so I'm
making a 700 mile trip this weekend with hopes of purchasing it.  The one
mechanical "issue" is that the clutch pedal seems heavy or stiff.  Seems to
work with no slipping or complaints.  One mechanic said it needs replacing,
another said early S4s often had stiff clutches so don't worry about it.
I've only driven 1 S4, a '94, and several 200 20vs and haven't noticed an
heavy clutch pedals.  Thoughts?
