Ed: Sure it was an efficient tool..............for the plastic threads and
the thin aluminum frame...........It just was great for hard concrete floors
and older type 44's which weighed several hundred pounds less. The A6 Avant
pushes 4400 lbs.
IMHO, the envelope has been pushed FAR enough for a Jack of this design.

Its footprint is narrow. (Peter suggests a plywood footing...smart guy.)
The jack gets tall quickly and bearly provides 2" of clearance under the tire.
(not that I was looking for more or thinking of tucking my fingers
underneath.....DOH !
Hence the walking or tipping over if the car isn't held EXACTLY in place..

Don't get me wrong, it didn't fall off, or bend, but it was a chanllenge for
one who's used this STYLE jack on many an occasion. Especially on a ~$40,000
car.

P.S. Audi drop the (jack up points) side rocker panel stamps to show where
to place it? By seeing those one could line the groove up (on the older hard
plastic lip) blind.......... no more.............
