Hi,
You can solder wires to the traces embedded in the plastic. No need to remove the plastic before you start soldering.
Use thin soft wire, tin the ends before you start, keep the soldering iron clean and not to hot.

Subject: 86 4kq instrument cluster HELP
Ok, Ive mastered these clusters inside and out, but this is one part that
really makes me mad. First off, Ive had to remove the original cluster a few
times to fix the odometer, no biggie. Not even a month ago, the circuitry around
where the 2 light bulb holes are at pretty much got destroyed, and wouldnt
make contact. I tossed in another cluster, removed it again to replace the
tachometer, reinstalled it again.
Now here I am, one of the light sockets wont work due to half of the
circuitry being too messed up. I hate this, Im gonna have to remove it again and
figure out how to fix it.
Is the cluster salvageable, light wise, can i fix the circuitry without
replacing it? Id love to hear if you guys have any tricks or tips on how to do so,
Ive about had it with this thing.
Sorry for the rant, and I do appreciate any help.
Mike
