Avi,
Oooops, I forgot about you Avi. You are a special case though. You have a
specialized, niche market, with a very unique clientele. You dont do mass
merchandising where the lowest price is what brings in the customers.
Your customers are more educated and they understand what you put into your
product. Unlike a FLAPS customer, cost is not their first and only
consideration.
I was referring to the neighborhood FLAP stores. They negotiate contracts
with regional or local rebuilders for rebuilt alternators. Almost always,
they go with the rebuilder that gives them(FLAPS) the lowest price. To do
that and stay in business, the bidding rebuilders start cutting corners.
In the end, assuming that one does their homework, you get what you pay for.
As for "greedy pigs", I dont think anyone is making obscene profits. The
customers demand lower prices and they shop by price. The FLAPS looks for
lower cost parts. The rebuilder looks for lower priced components to put
into the parts.
Ok, now that I made you look good, do I get a free alternator? I want one of
them 500 amp ricer jobs . . gold plating, lotsa chrome, neon lights . . . .
. racoon tails . . . .foam dice . . .
