Sorta sounds like the reference sensor is konked out. Not all that
uncommon at all, especially when the ECU's are telling you thats whats
going on. Has he tried swapping it with a known good one? How does he KNOW
that the ECU is getting a usable signal from it? The injectors will never
fire if this sensor isn't operating properly, I've seen three sensors that
'pass' the Bentley checks but were very marginal in (or completely unable
to) provide a usable signal.
